Sunday Prayer and Worship Services
10:30 AM Every Sunday

Join us for a spirited and spiritual time of prayer, meditation, teaching, worship, and fellowship. Regardless of your church or denominational background, you will feel welcome, comfortable, and at home in our sanctuary as we learn, share, and minister to each other. In addition to traditional and contemporary worship, we have special music, prayers of the people, a time for youngsters to spend time directly with the pastor, readings from the Bible, and a meaningful message that should speak to your heart. The Lord's Supper (communion) is celebrated every service. Out of respect to some of our members and guests, the sacrament is served without using wine. Our service typically lasts just about an hour or so, followed by a time for fellowship with food.
Sunday Bible Study
9:45-10:15 AM
Fall "Semester" Now Concluded
"Denominational Diversity"
It's been said that people tend to come together and worship more around their differences than around what they most surely all agree on and believe among them. Here at Christ Church of Peace, we represent a rich tapestry of faith traditions: Jewish, Roman Catholic, Presbyterian, Episcopalian, Methodist, Mormon, et al. What are some of disctinctions of each of these denominations? What about them do we embrace and consider our spiritual lives richer because of? How are the similar yet different from other religions? What kind of Christianity did Jesus practice? These and other vital observations will serve as touchstones for our Sunday School Series on "Denominational Diversity."
Conveniently scheduled to give you a bit of rest and respite still on Sunday mornings, our informal and interactive Bible studies take only half an hour ... with 15 minutes left between the end of each week's study and our worship service, so you can take care of any of life's "necessities" or "nature calls" before our regular service begins.
The theme of our first Scripture study during Fall 2010 was"Uppity Women of the Bible," when we looked at the roles and heroics of Eve, Sarah, Ruth, Jezebel, Bathsheba, Esther, Mary of Nazareth, Mary Magdalene, and the Samaritan Woman, among others.
During the Spring of 2011, our theme was "Journeys." Where did we come from and where are we going? How did we get here or there? Our lives comprise a
tapestry of intersecting journeys ... places we've been to and those we've yet to visit. Whether your own journey has been personal, experiential, spiritual, historical, and/or biblical, we explored the footsteps and pathways of our lives together.

Confidential HIV testing is conducted at Christ Church of Peace by qualified, certified, trustworthy volunteers on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, using Ora Sure Swabs. Although this is a "walk-in" service, you are strongly encouraged to make an appointment by calling the church at 904-387-2020.
In addition to testing, we disseminate information and strive to educate people about such critical issues as high-risk behaviors; transmission modes and methods of risk reduction; the process of HIV antibody testing; the benefits and risks of being tested; and the difference between testing positive for HIV and being diagnosed as having AIDS.

Other Ministries

Our Building and Grounds Team is responsible for maintaining, improving and coordinating services related to our property. The team provides a functional and attractive environment in which we worship, learn, and fellowship. Volunteers oversee our building's upkeep (i.e., painting) and the grounds (lawn, courtyard, landscaping, etc.).

Eucharistic Ministers at Christ Church of Peace are Servers who pray with congregants ... and Holders, who hold the elements, during communion, an integral part of our service. An Altar Team works with our Eucharistic Ministry to prepare the sacraments, the altar, and candelabras prior to Sunday's service, and then takes down the altar following the service.

The Stewardship Team is both spiritual and practical at Christ Church of Peace ... spiritual in the sense that this committee places a disciplined financial response to God before the congregation each year. We believe that our time, talent, and treasure combine to form the basis of a balanced stewardship program. The team is practical in that it challenges the congregation to respond to clearly articulated, specific financial goals designed to meet or advance church objectives.
Ushers and Greeters welcome
everyone to our Sunday worship service, distributing bulletins and information packets to newcomers. During the service, ushers and greeters count the number of adults and children attending, so that we can plan and prepare our accommodations and sacraments effectively.

Our Worship Planning Team coordinates and ensures the smooth flow and operation of all aspects of Christ Church of Peace's worship service within the hour and a half allotted ... including our music, announcements, quiet time for reflection, prayers, Scripture readings, children's time, communion, special guests, audiovisual, and all those unseen works that comfortably engage people in our services.
